Spring Goose 2007

It's
not often one comes across good advice, especially when
it comes to hunting. You will hear from all types of
sources - how to do this and how to do that, but in
the end, success is usually measured by a few simple
words. Those simple words are what Doug Webber lives
by. For a man who started outfitting for waterfowl on
Hudson Bay back in 1967 and who has developed Webber’s
Lodges into a world class hunting and fishing destination,
his simple words of advice are worth their weight in
gold. Click

Our
first group of hunters arrived to a great start with
the spring flight north. Weather was the only aspect
hampering low flying birds and full daily limits. Our
first group saw high skies, sunshine, rain, snow and
fog, a Hudson Bay grandslam of weather patterns. The
geese were in mental confusion as they flew back an
forth, north and south depending on the days weather.
However, the skies were filled with thousands of birds
and the wingshooting was nothing short of great!
Our
bird dressers were kept extremely busy and tallied a
group total of 800 harvested snow and blue geese and
a whopping 175 boxes of shotgun shells spent throughout
the 5 days of hunting. Lots of birds, lots of shooting
and lots of fun!

Our
second week of wingshooting was simply unbelievable,
including the weather! Our customers arrived in time
for two days of steady snow, freezing tempuratures and
an enormous flight of birds flying south to get away
from the on coming weather. Thats right, south, not
north, which is the direction they are suppose to be
heading. Snows and blues by the hundreds of thousands
flew by Dymond Lake with all of us admiring in awe.
The freezing tempratures and variable weather had pushed
all the birds that had already gone north right back
to square one and over the heads of our hunters.
Everyone
enjoyed thick skies and heavy shooting, not to mention
once in a lifetime sights of migrating and confused
birds. Our hard working bird dressers were once again
put to the test and processed 1300 hundred birds. Bringing
our 10 day total to an impressive 2100 harvested geese
and over 500 boxes of shotgun shells spent. That contributed
to alot of sore and bruised shoulders, but in the end
its all worth it!

We
would like to thank everyone for joining us this year
for another fantastic spring goose hunt. We hope everyone
had a great time and enjoyed the sights in the sky,
its simply something to remember!
Hope
to see you all this fall or in 2008!
