Stillwater
Fly Fishing
North
Knife Lake offers over 30 miles of stillwater fly fishing
scenarios. Backwater bays, defined points, open water
reefs, boulder strewn shorelines, manicured sand bars
and multi layered weed beds all form the perfect combination
for an unprecedented stillwater fishery. Whether you're
a novice or seasoned professional our impressive population
of trophy Northern Pike and Lake Trout can satisfy every
level of angling expectations.
From
mid June until the first week of July represents our
sight fishing or spring season. This offers the opportunity
to cast a fly to visual, shallow cruising fish that
inhabit warm water bays in search of food and for the
chance to replenish their energy after an exhausting
spawn or long dormant winter. Action can be fierce and
the experience of seeing numerous fish of all sizes
within casting distance can be quite exhilarating, it
puts new meaning to "take your pick."

The
remainder of July until mid August represents our structure
or summer season. Exciting opportunities for sub surface
and deep water presentations are sure to keep you on
your toes. Casting big fly patterns are the norm here,
summer feeding patterns turn to being aggressive and
both Northern Pike and Lake Trout consistently search
for forage in order to fatten up for their not so distant
winter. Expect to frequent giant weed beds, defined
points and deep water reefs. This is a prime "window
of opportunity" to land yourself a species of fish
that will be full of surprises and gaining impressive
weight.
River
Fly Fishing
Our
numerous river locations will offer you a multitude
of fly fishing options. The majority of North Knife's
inflowing and out flowing rivers will inhabit a strong
presence of current hardened Northern Pike. Successful hook ups with these river
residents will most often result in an aggressive "bull
dog" run well into your backing. Our local Arctic
Grayling population can also be found at our
North end river location. Some extended rapid navigation
will be required but these one of a kind specimens will
always welcome a well presented dry or wet fly.
